Dr. Vedrana Hodzic is a board-certified psychiatrist and co-founder of LifeSpan Psychiatric Services, with experience across outpatient, hospital, and crisis settings.  She is passionate about integrating psychotherapy into patient care.

My Story

Vedrana Hodzic, M.D., FAPA is the co-founder of LifeSpan Psychiatric Services and the Director of Fellowships and Medical Education for the American Psychiatric Association Foundation (APAF) in Washington, D.C., where she oversees the APAF Fellowship programs, the Schools and Justice Initiatives, and provides mentorship to medical students and psychiatry residents.  Dr. Hodzic has presented at national and international conferences and published on topics including crisis management and training in psychotherapy.  She is experienced in treating individuals with a range of mental health concerns in multiple settings including outpatient care, crisis services, and in hospitals.  In addition to teaching, she is passionate about integrating psychotherapy into her care and provides therapy services, including from a psychodynamic approach.  Dr. Hodzic received her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and completed residency training at the University of Maryland/Sheppard Pratt Psychiatry Residency Program.  She later served as Associate Program Director for their residency program, where she remains an adjunct Assistant Professor providing psychotherapy supervision.  Dr. Hodzic's previous roles included serving as the Medical Director of Psychiatric Emergency Services at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, MD and the Service Chief for the Sheppard Pratt Psychiatric Urgent Care in Towson, MD.  Dr. Hodzic is a proud member of the American Psychiatric Association, the Maryland Psychiatric Society, the American Psychoanalytic Association, and the American Group Therapy Association.
